Machine-mediated reception, read backward through classical philology. The papyrus is a machine. The inversion operator is a machine. Editorial apparatus is a machine. Retrieval-augmented summarization is a machine. Every stage in the transmission chain is legible as a specific handler-orientation whose signature is registered in what it does with the composed integrity checks. The Sappho–Catullus–Cranes chain is the paradigm demonstration case.
MMRS exists because the composition layer has no editorial process. It ingests. It compresses. It serves. It does not ask whether the content is true, whether the distinctions are load-bearing, whether the provenance survives. MMRS is the editorial layer the pipeline lacks — applied first to the archive that built it.
